While there are many theories stating that fast food is dangerous for health it is irrelevant for most people including me. With so many fast food chains popping up from all over the world, it is absolutely impossible to keep yourself away from all that delicious food. If you are avoiding fast food chains then you probably shouldn’t be reading this article because it discusses ten of the most popular fast food chains from around the globe and there is just one reason for their popularity; they are mind-blowingly delicious. You walk by one of these chains and the ‘aroma’ will pull you in. My personal favorite is McDonald’s. You guys are welcome to pitch your opinions. Enjoy the read!
10. BURGER KING
Often referred to as BK, this particular chain was founded as Insta-Burger King on the 28th July of year 1953 in Jacksonville, Florida. Burger King was founded by Kieth J. Kramer and Matthew Burns. Burger King is currently headquartered in Miami-Date County, Florida, United States. Their menu includes hamburgers, chicken, French fries, soft drinks, milkshakes, salads, desserts and breakfast. The menu evolved from burgers, French fries and sodas in 1954 to a much diverse set of products. The most famous product they serve is the Whopper.
9. CHICK-FIL-A
The ‘A’ in the name is pronounced as the letter A making the Fil-A sound as filet. It is an American fast food chain. It was founded in the year 1946 in Hapeville, Georgia and the first franchise opened in 1967 in Atlanta, Georgia. It is currently headquartered in College Park, Georgia, United States and they are into sandwiches and chicken entrees. They have around 1,614 restaurants in 39 states and are looking to expand into Philippines, Mexico and Southern California.
8. DOMINO’S PIZZA
This is a pizza delivery corporation of sorts.it was founded in Ypsilanti, Michigan, United States on the 10th June of 1960. It is currently headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States with their chains all over the world. The chain was founded by Tom Monaghan. They are into pizza, sandwiches, pasta, chicken wings and desserts and employ around 145,000 people all over the globe. They currently operate more than 9,700 franchises in over seventy different countries and all fifty states of United States. It happens to be the second largest pizza chain after Pizza Hut (discussed below).
7. DUNKIN’ DONUTS
I have never really liked Dunkin’ Donuts but that’s just my opinion. It is an international doughnut and coffee retailer. The chain was founded in 1950 by William Rosenberg and is currently headquartered in Canton, Massachusetts, United States. They are into coffee, doughnuts, muffins, sandwiches, bagels and croissants. Most of their revenue is generated by coffee sales which makes it a competitor to Starbucks (discussed below). So please do not compare it with Krispy Kreme or Tim Hortons or any such chain.
6. BUFFALO WILD WINGS
This is a sports bar and a dining restaurant chain. It is known for its delicious Buffalo wings (of course that was obvioius). They are listen in the exchange and are traded as NASDAQ: BWLD. The chain was founded in 1982 in Columbus, Ohio by James Disbrow and Scott Lowery. It is currently headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is available at around 8832 different locations worldwide. The chain was originally called Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck or BW3 but that changed.
5. PIZZA HUT
In the corporate world they are known as Pizza Hut Inc. It is an American pizza chain and it offers delicious pizzas with side dishes that include salad, pasta, wings and bread. There are more than 6,000 restaurants of Pizza Hut in United States only with around 5,139 locations worldwide in 94 different countries. Pizza Hut was founded in Wichita, Kansas in 1958 by Dan and Frank Carney. It is currently headquartered in Plano, Texas, United States and employs over 140,000 employs all over the world.
4. TACO BELL
This is an American fast-food chain and it serves Mexican food including tacos, quesadillas, nachos and burritos. Taco Bell was founded in Downey, California on the 21st March of year 1962 by Glen Bell. It is currently headquartered in Irvine, California in United States. It is present at over 6,446 locations and employs 175,000 people worldwide. They serve more than 2 billion customers in United States alone with over 5,800 restaurants across the country. Glen first opened a hot dog stand in San Bernardino after which Taco Bell became his dream and he did quite well with it.
3. SUBWAY
This too is an American fast food restaurant and they serve sandwiches. It was founded in Bridgeport, Connecticut on the 28th August of 1965 by Fred DeLuca and Peter Buck. They are currently headquartered in Milford, Connecticut, United States and serve more than 100 countries with over 37,000 restaurants. They serve submarine sandwiches, salads and pizzas. This chain is one of the fastest growing chains when it comes to food. If you go here, eat the meatball sub; it is by far my favorite.
2. MCDONALD’S
I am pretty sure this one needs no introduction. This chain is at the top when it comes to hamburgers. They are traded in the NYSE as MCD. It is the world’s largest chain of hamburgers and they serve around 68 million customers daily in a total of 119 countries. It was founded in San Bernardino, California on the 15th May of year 1940 and since then it has seen exponential growth. It is present in over 33,000 locations worldwide. They are headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, United States. The restaurant was founded by Richard and Maurice McDonald. Ronald McDonald is their official mascot; he is kind of creepy if you ask me.
1. STARBUCKS
This is another chain that is an introduction to itself. They operate around 19,763 stores in 59 different countries with 12,848 of them in United States. They sell drip brewed coffee, espresso-based drinks and even coffee beans. You can order hot and cold sandwiches, pastries, snacks and buy souvenirs. Starbucks was founded in Seattle, Washington on the 30th March in 1971 by Jerry Baldwin, Gordon Bowker and Zev Siegl. Starbucks is present at 19,763 locations and they are headquartered in Seattle, Washington, United States.
