it was first attempted by an expedition organized. The mountain was
first climbed on October 19, 1954 by Herbert Tichy, Joseph Jochler and
Sherpa Pasang Dawa Lama of an Austrian expedition. Cho Oyu is considered
as the easiest mountain to climb due to its moderate slopes. But to
climb one of the highest mountain is not easy.
5. Makalu
Makalu mountain is found on the border between Nepal and China. It is the world’s fifth highest mountain in the world with 8,481 meters
height. Makalu mountain is an isolated peak whose shape is a four sided
pyramid. The first attempt on Makalu was made by American team in 1954.
But it was first climbed on May 15, 1955 by Lionel Terray and Jean
Couzy of the French expedition led by Jean Franco. It was a great
achievement to reach on such a difficult peak.Which has the sharp edges.
4. Lhotse
Lhotse is the fourth highest mountain on Earth. It is connected to
Everest via the South Col. It is also situated on the border of Nepal and China. The height of this mountain is 8,516 meters.
It is one of the most deeply mountain. Early attempt on Lhotse was in
1955 by International Himalayan Expedition headed by Norman
Dyherenfurth. The successful attempt was done in 1956 by the Swiss team
of Ernst Reiss and Fritz Luchsinger. Number of deaths have been recorded
due to which Lhotse is considered as the most deadly mountain. This
mountain has many dramatic rocky routes which made it so dangerous.
3. Kangchenjunga
It is the 3rd highest mountain in the world with an elevation of 8,586 meters and is found along India-Nepal
border in the Himalayas. Kangchenjunga means “The Five Treasures of
Snows” it contains five peaks. This mountain has a huge quantity of ice.
This mountain is widely separated and is being shared with four
countries Bhutan, India ,China and Nepal. In 1955 on 25 May Joe Brown
and George Band succeeded to climb this mountain.
2. K2
K2 is the second highest mountain on Earth. It has the peak elevation of 8,611 meters. K2 is a part of Karakorum Range and is located on the border between Baltistan, in the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan
and China. It is well known as the Savage Mountain due to the
difficulty of ascent. k2 is so difficult and dangerous. For every four
people who have reached th summit, one has died trying. But still about
250 climbers have succeeded in climbing this tough mountain. The first
successful attempt was made by Italian expedition Lino Lacedelli and
Achille Compagnoni in 1954. This mountain has a massive quantity of ice.
